Probably from the 1920's, although it might be much older, this comes from back when the family telephone had its own piece of furniture and pride of place in the front hall or living room. Found at a farm auction in Simcoe County, Ontario in the late 1980's, it is all original and in as-found condition. It is also very solid and heavy and rather unusual.
Dimensions: 31 inches long; 14.5 inches wide; 28 inches high
The leather is a bit rough and there is a small nibble out of one foot. On the phone-book shelf, there is a mark from something damp left there (that could be restored). It has been lightly waxed a couple of times a year to maintain condition.
Asking price is the appraised auction value from 2001.
